Page 1 of 3 evil No-one can understand darkness without experiencing light, therefore everyone claiming to be on the side of good must also have been evil (EG. God). I do not denounce or worship either side, and as a result consider myself to be balanced. Am I a contradiction? Yes! But that is not a bad thing. One man's evil is another man's good; it all depends upon your tastes. primordial soup Mankind ARE animals, our race are just another species. So why do people from different nations wage war with each other? Surely destroying every other species must be enough? But no, we must destroy our own as well. Face facts, we are the most destructive creatures on the planet. Created in the image of God.... straw man fallacy A straw man fallacy is when you misrepresent (take it out of context / alter) someone else's viewpoint in order to attack it more easily, knock down the viewpoint, then conclude that the original viewpoint has been demolished. It's a fallacy because it fails to deal with the original arguments that were made. e.g. To be an atheist, you have to believe with absolute certainty that there is no God. In order to convince yourself with absolute certainty, you must examine all the Universe and all the places where God could possibly be. Since you obviously haven't, your position is indefensible This doesn't take into consideration the fact that neither has the christian! Also, they have no evidence that other entities such as zeus, baal, santa claus, the flying spaghetti monster, etc, do not exist. Logically, their argument is false. christianity and birth-rate The one simple method to allow a religion to succeed is to have more members than the others, and what better way than to cause its brainwashed members to procreate than to write it into the doctrine itself. Hence not being allowed to use contraception, Banning abortion, Enforcing marriage (and banning sex before you are OFFICIALLY part of the church - IE, officially a member blessed by god). There are several other examples made up by church leaders in order to cause the membership to expand. Now take a look at the fact rednecks are usually brain-dead, Christian, and with large families living in abject poverty. A coincidence? Or is the brainwashing of the church involved somewhat. thou shalt not Kill.....Unless they believe in a different invisible man than yourself. god's plan If everything in the world is part of "god's plan" it raises several interesting points: Freedom of choice is removed, we may as well just give up on the legal system, healthcare and all similar ideas, as all life is pre-planned and we already have our lives planned out! Due to this, where the bible claims abortion and the like are sins, and not to be performed, god has complete control. Therefore, all the negative things in the world MUST also be a part of god's plan. Hitler was a part of god's plan. Also, Hitler was BLAMELESS, if we are to believe god has a plan. old vs. new testament If god is all-knowing, then how can people claim he changed his own beliefs between the old and new testament. Also, how can people selectively ignore the advocation of mass genocide, slavery, sexism and rape contained within the NEW testament? Putting words into god's mouth is a bit presumptuous really isn't it? intentional destruction An unpopular belief is that of the concept of armageddon. The time in which jesus will return to save christians from the "seven bowls of the wrath of God" that is poured upon the earth. Not only does this indicate that god causes armageddon, but many fundamentalist christians ACTIVELY are trying to cause the destruction of the planet. Many even have their fingers on the button in america! selective denial If you have no evidence to prove that your own choice of deity exists, how can you disprove the thousands of others that other people hold dear? Heaven therefore, is a small place, filled with the same fundamentalist christians that are trying to destroy the planet. prayer If you claim that 0.01% is a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers, you may as well pray to me, you would probably get more results! Also, JESUS says in the bible: "Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" If EVERYONE who asks recieves, then surely a 0.01% success rate is a little different from the expected 100% promised in the bible. Jesus lied! pascal's wager Several christians have suggested to me that I "should believe for the sake of it, as there is nothing to lose then". This has several flaws. Trying to fool myself into accepting an illogical dogma is not belief, it is claiming to be something I KNOW I am not. Furthermore, this is purely an idea on behalf of the religious right (with everything to gain) in order to have a larger group of people to back them up. Indoctrination? If I were to select christianity as my chosen faith, What if God were th% wrong invisible man to follow blindly? Surely I would be going to hell according to all other faiths? twat God? Isn't he supposed to be irrelevant in governmental issues? If he had a say, he'd be ruling the world! Clinton was a damn sight a better president than bush ever was, and I am well aware of that despite being in the United Kingdom. Locale is totally irrelevant... The message is way more useful. Shouldn't every nation try to find a way to live under the "banner" of the same "species"? Surely that would solve more problems than bombing everyone who hasn't sent you a postcard? the flood What did the carnivores eat after the great flood? Did they turn vegetarian overnight? And what happened to all the drowned vegetation (apart from that olive branch)? dinosaurs Where actually were they in the bible? aids If god created AIDS to punish homosexuals, then by the same logic he also created E. Coli to punish those who eat meat.
